Tasty Delights

Okay so here is the Baked Bean recipe. It makes a crockpot full, so if you are not needing that many beans you can adjust the recipe likewise. The kids at school to my suprised loved the beans! Several asked for the recipe!

4 Tbsp olive oil
2 onions (finely chopped)
12 cups navy beans (drained)
2 cups maple syrup
4 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 cup tomato paste
2 1/2 cups water

Heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the onions for about 5 mins. Mix all the ingredients into the crockpot and cook for about 6-8 hours on low.

NOW....today I cooked something called Idaho Sunrise for supper...noticing the title it is a tasty little breakfast.

First you mix 3 cups of shredded hashbrowns, 2 Tbsp of oil, 1 tsp of salt and 1 of pepper and 1/3 cup of shredded cheese. You cook this for about 15 mins at 425F. It should look like this...
You then add either a medium egg to each...or like I did, I scramble 6 large eggs, mixed in some spinach and cheese. They say to add bacon bits too but I had none so my were bacon less. Put it back in the oven for about 16 minutes. What makes this even better is listening to the new The Fray tunes while cooking!!

Was pretty tasty in my opinion!

Just a quick note to finish about my day....I woke up to a dead car. Thank goodness people sleep in on Saturdays because the AMA man was very quick in responding! Edmonton in the past 24 hours has metamorphisized into a winter wonderland. This does make driving an adventure, but it has embellished our city!! I just hope I can get my car out in the morning, because I was pushing snow as I pulled into my parking stall this evening.

A perfect night would be : Cozying up to the fire a wonderful book.
My reality of tonight: Corrections, corrections, corrections.

Until next time! <3

Teaching adventures

I can almost bet you will be completely suprised about what this blog post is about. Who would ever think that teaching involves opening 18 cans of beans (I am going to be ripped) 6 cans of tomato paste, chop 6 large onions and add that all and a few other items into 3 crock pots?!

Yes this is the hard truth...no joke at all...this is what I spent my evening doing! Tomorrow is our Carnaval and our students get to try baked beans! I am hoping with all the hard work and sweat that these kids LOVE our baked beans!! Cudos to my other dear teacher friends who were part of this Bean Cooking Adventure!

Tonight I am just taking a short break in my grandios piles of corrections to share with you the song that is the background to how I came to naming my blog. Dean Brody is Canadian himself and one of my favorite country singers. Hope you enjoy the song like I did... I am sure I have now listened to it over 50 times!
